HERE I AM
However, said best friend is emanating a weird aura which Aoi senses the moment she steps into the dojo. Light feet approach Sakura carefully as the Ultimate Martial Artist utters those words and gives out a vague picture of what's going on. Aoi is suddenly struck by concern, her voice breaking through the quiet but tense air inside the room. ]
Hey, Sakura! What happened? [ With some hesitation, she adds: ] Who's the guy who beat you? I can't believe for a second someone could ever defeat you, so how...?
SO AM I!
Ah.... I've lost.
[The words still feel a bit foreign when talking about any person except Kenshiro.]
It was Nidai-senpai of class 2-B. He offered to spar.

Crossing her arms and frowning, Aoi ponders the situation. ]
Are you sure he won fair and square? There was no dirty move he pulled out on you, was there?
no subject
Sorcery must be at hand?!]
You believe he cheated?
[But Sakura is offended on his behalf. Nidai might be.... Nidai, but there is nothing to suggest that he would ever lower himself to such devious tricks.]
No, he won through his own effort. It is my fault that I lost. I allowed myself to be distracted, though it is no excuse for my poor performance.

[ Honestly, Sakura is probably the most focused person she knows. Never missing a beat of her schedule, permanently fixated on training and toning her body to remain the beautiful beast she is now. Aoi can barely believe her friend would allow herself to be distracted by anything. She needs more details. Dang... she should have been present at the fight. ]
By what?
no subject
[Obviously, Sakura has not trained enough. She cannot call herself the Ultimate Martial Artist, no matter what the scouting board of Hope Peak thought.
She pulls a letter out of her gi and hands it to her friend.]
I have heard from my father.
no subject
[ The distraction... was that? A letter?
Aoi takes the paper and slowly unfolds it, reading the contents inside. ]
no subject
The contents are catching her up on the things around the dojo. Titles that have been brought back, new members, and how new instructors have been hired to help with the influx, due to their fame. However, at the very end, he mentions that there was a memorial service for a young man who had been known around the neighborhood that happened a few days before.
After that, he mentions their family quickly and signs off. It seems rather normal.]
no subject
... Now that she thinks more about it, that must be it.
Aoi raises her eyes back towards her friend. ]
This young man they've commemorated... could it be...?
[ She... rather knows there is one person in particular whose mention would shake Sakura's stoic exterior like this. ]
